Demo, renovation, and relocation of a new lab combining all three of a multinational telecommunications company’s major departments. Work included demo and renovation of an existing 7,500-square-foot lab on the 19th floor and relocation of equipment from a 9,000-square-foot space on the 18th floor.
We installed specialty MEPs and data required for lab operations in the new space, including deionized water and vacuum exhaust. The cabinetry and anti-corrosive counter tops from the decommissioned lab were carefully preserved and reused in the new space resulting in considerable cost savings.
To ensure the safety of the client’s specialty equipment during relocation, we coordinated with the owner, an independent rigging team, and the equipment manufacturers for decommissioning, packing and calibration.
Temporary plastic partitions and negative air maintained throughout construction eliminated movement of dust between the construction zone and the rest of the client’s space. In addition, employees were designated to one of three groups and relocation progressed in three phases so that their work was uninterrupted.
